Unbeaten Recruiter wins Laurel’s James F. Lewis III Stakes

 

Lynch Racing LLC and Nick Sanna Stables LLC’s Recruiter is three for three and a stakes winner after taking charge of Saturday’s $100,000 James F. Lewis III Stakes at Laurel on the turn and cruising from there to a 2-3/4 length win, according to a press release. 

The 2-year-old colt by Army Mule, trained by Cathal Lynch, has earned $126,900 to date. He’s a two-time OBS graduate, sold by Beth Bayer, Agent, at the 2021 Winter Mixed Sale then purchased for $125,000 out of the Wavertree Stables consignment at the 2022 OBS June Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat.    January Sale walking video. 

Altamira Racing Stable, CYBT, Marc Lantzman, and Michael Nentwig’s Handy Dandy broke through the gate before the start of Friday’s $84,600 Let It Ride Stakes at Del Mar, sat off the pace early, turned in a strong rally in the final furlong and got up late to score by a nose. It’s the first stakes victory for the 3-year-old Florida-bred son of Fury Kapcori, purchased for $29,000 out of the Journeyman Bloodstock consignment at the 2021 OBS June Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. Trained by Peter Miller, he has compiled a 13-4-4-2 record and earned $266,260 to date.

Terrell Jarrett Jr.’s Tensas Candy pressed the pace from the start of the $100,000 My Trusty Cat Stakes on Friday at Delta Downs, wore down the leader late and was best by half a length. Fellow OBS graduate Taylors Tap (April ’22, October ’21) checked in third. Trained by Jorge Lara, the 2-year-old daughter of Twirling Candy is now 4-2-1-0 and has earned $93,800. Norman Stables, LLC’s Mazing Mark picked a good spot to break his maiden, coming from off the pace to catch frontrunning fellow OBS graduate Toddchero (April ’22) in the stretch and beat him by a length and a half in Saturday’s $100,000 Jean Lafitte Stakes at Delta Downs. Trained by Lonnie Briley, the 2-year-old colt by Mo Town is now 3-1-0-0 and has earned $69,550. Consigned to the 2022 OBS Spring Sale by Golden Rock Thoroughbreds, Agent, he was sold for $80,000 after breezing a quarter in :21 4/5 at the Under Tack Show.
