WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today called on with Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Economy (FDPM), Yuliia Svyrydenko before the eleventh meeting of the United States-Ukraine Trade and Investment Council Meeting.
Ambassador Tai warmly welcomed the Ukrainian delegation’s meet, reiterated the Biden Administration’s solidarity with the Ukrainian people and condemned Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified invasion.
Ambassador Tai and FDPM Svyrydenko discussed the United States’ enduring commitment to helping Ukraine recover from the invasion and the significance of working closely with both the business and labor communities on both sides to support Ukraine as it rebuilds its economy.
Ambassador Tai encouraged the Authority of Ukraine to enact long-sought reforms to create an environment that will entice people, businesses, and investors to help Ukraine recover.
FDPM Svyrydenko expressed appreciation for the support of the United States and described ongoing restructuring efforts in Ukraine.
Finally, Ambassador Tai and FDPM Svyrydenko agreed to announce negotiations to update the United States-Ukraine Trade and Investment Cooperation Agreement and stay in close contact in the months ahead.
