WASHINGTON, DC—President Biden reiterated his commitment to safeguarding access to reproductive healthcare, emphasizing the need for Congressional action to codify the protections of Roe v. Wade.
"My Administration will continue to protect access to reproductive health care," Biden declared in a public comment on Thursday. "Congress must codify the protections of Roe v. Wade into federal law. Until then, we will use every legal tool at our disposal to protect women's reproductive rights."
Biden's remarks come amidst ongoing efforts to restrict reproductive rights across the United States, following the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in June 2022. The decision has left millions of women without access to safe and legal abortion services.
"The decision to have a reproductive care is a deeply personal one," Biden stated. "It should be made by a woman and her doctor, without political interference."
Biden urged Congress to pass legislation that would codify the protections of Roe v. Wade, ensuring that women nationwide have access to abortion services.
"We must act now to protect women's reproductive rights," Biden emphasized. "Congress must do its job and pass legislation to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law."
Biden's call for action aligns with the growing demand for nationwide protection of reproductive rights. Public opinion polls consistently show that a majority of Americans support abortion rights.
"The American people are clear: they want reproductive rights protected," Biden stated. "It is time for Congress to listen to the American people and take action."
