Los Angeles, CA:

Millions of Americans face a potential internet cliffhanger as funding for the vital Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) hangs in the balance. But Excess Telecom, a leading ACP provider, is taking a firm stand, urging Congress to extend the program and prevent a "digital disconnection" for nearly 23 million households.

"We're confident that leaders serving in an election year will not disconnect almost 23 million American households," declared Cobby Pourtavosi, CEO of Excess Telecom. "At Excess Telecom, we strongly believe funding for the ACP will be extended and allow our subscribers to continue using the essential connectivity they need for school, work, banking, and health care."

This unwavering support echoes the program's widespread public backing. A recent bipartisan survey revealed a commanding 79% of voters advocating for the ACP's extension, with overwhelming support across party lines (62% Republicans, 78% Independents, and 96% Democrats).

"Internet is now a commonly required utility, as ubiquitous as gas, electricity, and water," emphasized Pourtavosi. "But the cost prohibits many Americans from connecting." According to EveryoneOn, a non-profit, 40% of lower-income households can't afford high-speed internet.

The ACP bridges this gap, providing eligible households with up to $30 per month in internet service discounts and a one-time $100 device discount. Households qualify based on income (200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines or below) or participation in government assistance programs.

"If this proposed legislation introduced in Congress isn't passed in short order, Excess Telecom and other ACP providers may be forced to stop enrolling new customers," warned Pourtavosi. "This would unnecessarily widen the digital divide that Excess Telecom is dedicated to narrowing."

The potential disconnect isn't just a number; it's millions of families facing a loss of vital access to online resources for education, healthcare, and economic opportunity.

Why the Disconnect? Millions Face Internet Blackout Without ACP Extension

The question isn't whether Americans need affordable internet - the resounding answer is yes. It's a necessity for school, work, healthcare, and even basic banking. Yet, millions face a potential internet blackout if Congress doesn't extend funding for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).

Without it, Excess Telecom and other providers may have to halt new enrollments, leaving underserved communities and low-income families stranded on the wrong side of the digital divide. It's not just about a lack of entertainment; it's about shutting doors to education, opportunity, and vital online resources.

The internet has become as critical as gas, electricity, and water, and denying affordable access is essentially disconnecting millions from crucial aspects of modern life. This isn't about politics; it's about basic human needs in the digital age.

So, what can you do? Excess Telecom urges to stay smiling but to join with them in urging Congress to pass the Affordable Connectivity Program Extension Act! Many urge Congress to bridge the gap and extend the ACP, ensuring everyone has a shot at connecting and thriving in today's world.
