Cisco Connects the 2028 LA Games

Not just fast Wi-Fi! Cisco goes beyond their role as LA28 Network Partner, empowering Angelenos with valuable IT skills through social impact programs.

Cisco Empowers LA with Tech Training
Super-fast internet at the 2028 LA Olympics and Paralympics! Tech leader Cisco is the Official Network Partner, ensuring a smooth and connected experience for everyone.

The 2028 Los Angeles Olympic and Paralympic Games are gearing up to be a spectacle of athleticism and global unity. But behind the scenes, a crucial element will ensure smooth operations and seamless connections: secure and reliable networking. That's where Cisco, a world leader in secure networking technology, steps in as the newly announced Official Network Equipment Partner for the LA28 Games.

This partnership signifies more than just providing internet access. Cisco boasts a long-standing commitment to the Olympic and Paralympic Movement, having served as an Official Partner for several Games since 2012. Their experience in connecting athletes, fans, and stakeholders in London (2012), Rio de Janeiro (2016), Tokyo (2020), and the upcoming Paris Games (2024) is invaluable.

For the LA28 Games, Cisco will deploy its industry-leading networking solutions across various venues throughout the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area.

This robust infrastructure will ensure secure and reliable connectivity, allowing for:

Flawless communication: Athletes, coaches, and officials will have uninterrupted communication channels, vital for competition coordination and strategy.

Enhanced fan experience: Spectators will be able to access real-time updates, live streams, and social media connections seamlessly, enriching their experience.

Streamlined operations: Media personnel, volunteers, and event organizers will have the bandwidth they need to carry out their duties efficiently.

Casey Wasserman, LA28 Chairperson and President, emphasized the importance of this partnership: "Connectivity is going to be integral as we plan to deliver the Olympic and Paralympic Games all throughout Los Angeles. Cisco's leadership in the industry and experience will enable us to provide the best and most seamless experience for our athletes, fans, partners and community at large."

But Cisco's commitment extends beyond just ensuring a connected Games. They are leveraging this partnership to empower the Los Angeles community through their social impact programs. A key initiative is the Cisco Networking Academy, which provides IT training and certifications to individuals around the world.

In Los Angeles specifically, Cisco has already established 35 active academies and trained over 34,000 students since the program's inception. This investment in IT education empowers Angelenos with valuable skills that can lead to future employment opportunities in the ever-growing tech sector.

Cisco's previous Olympic partnerships demonstrate their dedication to leaving a lasting positive impact on host cities. In Rio de Janeiro (2016), they developed a program equipping young people from underprivileged communities with the tools to support the network during the Games, setting them up for future careers. Similarly, in Tokyo (2020), Cisco launched a program to train students in network security, addressing a critical skill gap in the region.

Cisco's role as the LA28 Games' Official Network Equipment Partner goes beyond just wires and routers. It signifies a commitment to fostering a connected and empowered Los Angeles, not just for the duration of the Games, but for years to come. By ensuring seamless communication for the event and providing valuable IT training to the community, Cisco is playing a vital role in creating a successful and inclusive LA28 experience.
