Shanghai, July 1, 2024:
At MWC Shanghai 2024, Huawei's Li Peng, President of ICT Sales & Service, delivered a keynote address urging operators to embrace business model innovation to maximize the value of 5.5G technology.

Li highlighted the arrival of the "mobile AI era" and the need to integrate network, cloud, and AI capabilities to provide differentiated user experiences. He emphasized the shift from "single-factor monetization" (traffic) to "multi-factor monetization" (experiences) as key to success.

Drawing a parallel to the aviation industry's tiered service model, Li argued that the mobile industry can create premium offerings by leveraging 5.5G's high bandwidth and network slicing capabilities. This would allow operators to cater to diverse customer needs, from business travelers requiring faster downloads to gamers prioritizing low latency.

Li also discussed the potential of cloud phones, powered by 5G's high bandwidth and cloud resources. This would offer users real-time computing, data isolation, and on-demand scalability. He cited China Mobile Zhejiang's successful cloud phone plan, integrating network, cloud, and computing for unique member benefits and tiered data plans with varying processing power.

Li emphasized 5.5G's ability to enhance existing private networks used in various industries. This would extend network capabilities beyond auxiliary systems to core production, driving greater industrial value. Additionally, operators can offer SLA-guaranteed services, intelligent edge services, and high-precision positioning – perfect for applications like intelligent railway maintenance with 5G-powered inspections.

During MWC Shanghai (June 26-28), Huawei showcased its latest products and solutions, highlighting the transformative potential of 5.5G and beyond. The company, along with global partners, aims to explore how to leverage 5.5G for operator revenue growth and industry advancement.
