The core of SMC's offering is its innovative approach to cooling servers. Unlike traditional air cooling methods, SMC submerges servers in a synthetic oil called polyalphaolefin. This immersion technique drastically reduces energy consumption, a critical factor as the AI industry grapples with skyrocketing energy demands. The International Energy Agency (IEA) has projected a tenfold increase in AI electricity consumption compared to 2023, with global data center energy consumption reaching a staggering 1,000 terawatt-hours in 2026. This is equivalent to the total annual electricity consumption of Japan.
