Seattle, Washington, USA – August 15, 2024:
BRINC, a leader in drone technology for emergency services, and Echodyne, a pioneer in ground-based radar systems, announced a groundbreaking partnership to advance drone operations for first responders. This collaboration aims to integrate Echodyne’s advanced MESA® radar technology into BRINC’s Drone as First Responder (DFR) solution, paving the way for automated beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) operations without the need for visual observers.
Current regulations mandate a visual observer for drone flights, hindering the flexibility and efficiency of emergency response operations. By combining BRINC’s drone expertise with Echodyne’s radar capabilities, this partnership addresses this challenge and enhances airspace awareness for safer operations.
The integrated solution will provide public safety agencies with a comprehensive view of the airspace, enabling automated drone responses to emergencies, reducing response times, and improving decision-making. This technology is expected to be particularly beneficial in areas with limited staffing resources, as it eliminates the need for on-site visual observers.
Both companies expressed their commitment to delivering a robust and reliable solution that meets the stringent requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for BVLOS operations.
