ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Aug. 4, 2024:
As a powerful storm bearing down on Florida threatens to bring heavy rainfall, strong winds, and localized flooding, Duke Energy is proactively preparing for potential widespread power outages. To expedite restoration efforts, the company is deploying a substantial force of over 3,000 personnel, including skilled power line technicians, vegetation management experts, damage assessors, and support staff.
In anticipation of the storm's impact, Duke Energy is strategically positioning crews and resources in areas likely to be affected. To bolster its response capabilities, additional crews from the company's Midwest operations in Kentucky and Ohio are being mobilized to Florida. These reinforcements will be ready to commence repair and restoration efforts as soon as weather conditions safely permit.
