Nairobi, Kenya – August 3, 2024:
Infinix, a leading tech brand, has partnered with UNESCO and Google to launch the largest CogLabs workshop to date, aimed at inspiring and educating African youth in AI and robotics. The event, held at the University of Nairobi, brought together over 200 students for hands-on learning experiences.
CogLabs is an innovative educational program that provides students with the tools and knowledge to build their own robots using 3D printed parts and repurposed smartphones. By training these robots to recognize objects and perform simple tasks, participants gain valuable insights into coding, machine learning, and AI.
“We believe that AI and robotics will shape the future, and it’s crucial to equip today’s youth with the necessary skills,” said Michael Zeng, Brand Manager of Infinix Kenya. “Through CogLabs, we aim to foster innovation and create a new generation of African tech leaders.”
The workshop also introduced the upcoming CogLabs mobile app, which will make AI and robotics education accessible to a wider audience. With the app, users can learn and experiment with AI without needing a laptop.
Infinix plans to expand the CogLabs initiative to other African countries, providing opportunities for students of all levels to engage in AI education. By combining technology, education, and collaboration, Infinix, UNESCO, and Google are working together to empower Africa’s youth and drive technological progress on the continent.
