Men More Comfortable with AI Jobs
Men Are Leading the Charge in AI-Powered Job Search. New study reveals a gender gap in AI adoption for job hunting.

SOFIA, Bulgaria, August 02, 2024:

A new study conducted by Enhancv has unveiled a significant gender disparity in the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) for job hunting. The research, involving a survey of 600 job seekers and an analysis of over 26,000 resumes, revealed that men are significantly more likely to leverage AI tools throughout the recruitment process.

One of the most striking findings is the 35% higher propensity of men to use AI for crafting their resumes compared to women. This suggests a growing trend where AI is becoming a valuable asset for male job seekers. While 49% of all respondents admitted to employing AI for resume writing, the data indicates a clear gender gap in this practice.

Enhancv's Executive Coach, Silvia Angeloro, offers a potential explanation for this disparity. She suggests that traditional gender roles, which often see women burdened with a greater share of childcare and household responsibilities, may be contributing to the difference. This imbalance could provide men with more time and energy to explore innovative job search strategies, including the adoption of AI tools.

"I believe a significant reason for this disparity is that, on average, men tend to have fewer responsibilities related to childcare and household chores. This allows them to focus more on their careers and excel in areas such as leveraging AI for job applications, statistically more than women," said Silvia Angeloro, Executive Coach, Enhancv.

Beyond resume writing, the study [AI for CV Writing] also highlighted a broader gender gap in AI usage within the job search. Men were found to be more likely to employ AI for tasks such as completing recruitment assessments and preparing for interviews. Additionally, they expressed a higher level of comfort with AI technology in the job hunting context.

However, the survey also revealed a common ground between genders. Both men and women largely perceive the use of AI in job search as ethical. This indicates a growing acceptance of AI as a legitimate tool for career advancement.

Angeloro emphasizes the importance of human judgment in the job search process, even when utilizing AI. She advises job seekers to personalize AI-generated content to reflect their unique skills and experiences. By combining the efficiency of AI with the human touch, individuals can increase their chances of landing their desired positions.

As AI continues to evolve, it is likely to play an increasingly significant role in the job market. The findings of this study underscore the importance of understanding the nuances of AI adoption across different demographics to ensure equitable opportunities for all job seekers.
