Washington, D.C., USA – August 23, 2024:

The United States Department of State announced on Thursday the launch of the Clean Energy Transition Accelerator (CETA) project in Argentina. This initiative aims to support Argentina's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and accelerate its transition to a clean energy economy.

The CETA project will provide the Argentine government with $500,000 in technical assistance from the U.S. Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Experts from these renowned research institutions will collaborate with Argentine counterparts to develop comprehensive strategies for clean energy adoption.

The project will focus on a range of areas, including:

Policy development: Assisting Argentina in formulating and implementing effective policies to promote clean energy investment and deployment.

Technology transfer: Facilitating the transfer of advanced clean energy technologies from the United States to Argentina.

Capacity building: Strengthening the technical capabilities of Argentine government officials and stakeholders in the clean energy sector.

Public-private partnerships: Promoting collaboration between the public and private sectors to accelerate the development and deployment of clean energy projects.

Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Jose W. Fernandez made the announcement during a visit to Buenos Aires, emphasizing the United States' commitment to assisting Argentina in meeting its international climate goals. The project will be implemented in close collaboration with the Argentine Secretary of Energy and Subsecretary for Environment to ensure its effectiveness and alignment with Argentina's national priorities.

The CETA program, established in 2023, leverages the expertise of the Department of Energy's National Laboratories to strengthen climate and clean energy diplomacy with key partner countries. This initiative is part of the United States' broader efforts to address the global climate crisis and promote sustainable development.

By supporting Argentina's clean energy transition, the United States is helping to create a more sustainable and prosperous future for both countries. This collaboration also contributes to global efforts to combat climate change and achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement.
