SAS, a global leader in data and AI, is excited to announce the upcoming SAS Hackathon, a month-long, all-digital event that challenges participants to leverage advanced analytics and AI to address pressing business and humanitarian challenges.
The Hackathon, which begins on September 16th, offers a unique opportunity for individuals and teams to collaborate, network with industry experts, and explore cutting-edge technologies like SAS Viya, SAS Data Maker, and SAS Viya Copilot. By participating, participants can contribute to real-world solutions that have the potential to make a significant impact.
Last year's Hackathon showcased the power of AI in addressing critical issues. Team JaWaRA from Jakarta, Indonesia, utilized AI and IoT analytics to develop a flood prediction and prevention system, helping to mitigate the devastating effects of climate change in the city. This project is now being implemented in Jakarta, providing early warnings to residents and enabling city officials to take proactive measures.
Other notable achievements from last year's Hackathon include a US team's development of a visual dashboard to combat forced labor and a Turkish team's creation of a disaster response model inspired by the 2023 earthquake.
The SAS Hackathon is open to individuals from all industries and backgrounds. Participants can join industry-specific tracks, including banking, energy, healthcare, IoT, insurance, public sector, retail, telecom, and a new student track. Winners will be announced on November 20th during a live event on YouTube and LinkedIn.
