Santa Ana, California, USA – August 22, 2024:
Motive Energy has successfully completed a solar and electric vehicle (EV) charging project at Samueli Academy, a public charter school and program of the Orangewood Foundation. The project was completed on time, ensuring no disruption to the school's operations.
The project involved the installation of 590 kW of solar panels across 5 carports and 6 rooftops, as well as 4 Level II EV charging ports. The solar panels will generate clean energy for the school, reducing energy costs and carbon footprint. The EV charging stations will provide a convenient charging option for staff and visitors.
Motive Energy self-performed the entire project, from engineering and procurement to construction and commissioning. The project was completed in just 64 days from mobilization, demonstrating Motive Energy's expertise in delivering complex energy solutions efficiently.
Samueli Academy will benefit from a 30-year fixed cost of energy and is expected to save $205,000 in the first year alone. The solar panels will also provide shaded parking for faculty and staff, enhancing the campus facilities.
Anthony Saba, Executive Director at Samueli Academy, expressed his excitement about the project, stating, "This new initiative aligns perfectly with our STEAM curriculum and Project-based learning approach, as our students can now see firsthand how renewable energy can impact their lives."
Chris Simonsen, CEO of the Orangewood Foundation, emphasized the financial and environmental benefits of the project, highlighting how it enables the foundation to invest more in its programs for youth.
