Kia Corporation and The Ocean Cleanup today marked a significant milestone in their joint mission to combat ocean plastic pollution. The partnership has successfully removed over one million pounds of plastic from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP) since its inception in 2022.
As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainable mobility, Kia has provided crucial support to The Ocean Cleanup's innovative technologies, enabling the organization to make substantial progress in cleaning up the world's largest accumulation of floating waste.
Building on the success of its recent operations, The Ocean Cleanup has announced an ambitious timeline to completely clean up the GPGP. Leveraging advancements in technology and data-driven insights, the organization aims to reduce the cleanup time from 10 years to just five years.
