Ottawa, Ontario, Canada – September 16, 2024:

The Government of Canada has announced a significant investment of $9.25 million in two projects led by Net Zero Atlantic, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing clean energy solutions in Atlantic Canada.

The funding will support the development of offshore wind energy and the deployment of innovative clean technologies in the region. This investment aligns with Canada's broader goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

One of the projects receiving funding is the Offshore Wind Energy Development Project. This initiative aims to accelerate the development of offshore wind energy in Atlantic Canada, a renewable energy source with immense potential. By investing in this project, the Government of Canada is helping to establish a strong foundation for a thriving offshore wind industry in the region.

The second project, the Clean Technology Deployment Project, will focus on bringing forward innovative clean technologies that can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve energy efficiency. This includes supporting the adoption of new technologies in sectors such as transportation, heating, and building construction.

These investments are expected to create jobs and stimulate economic growth in Atlantic Canada. By supporting clean energy projects, the Government of Canada is helping to diversify the region's economy and make it more resilient to climate change.

In addition to the economic benefits, these projects will also contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment. By reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting renewable energy, Canada is taking steps to combat climate change and protect the planet for future generations.

The Government of Canada's investment in Net Zero Atlantic is a significant step towards achieving a net-zero future in Atlantic Canada. By supporting clean energy projects and fostering innovation, Canada is positioning itself as a global leader in the transition to a low-carbon economy.
