Chatuzange-le-Goubet, Drome, France - September 21, 2024:
Veolia and Waga Energy have officially inaugurated a new renewable natural gas (RNG) production unit at the “Pôle de Stockage Énergie” in Chatuzange-le-Goubet, Southeastern France. This innovative project utilizes the WAGABOX technology to upgrade landfill gas into RNG, which is then injected directly into the gas distribution network.
The new RNG production unit is expected to produce up to 25 GWh of RNG per year, providing a sustainable alternative to fossil-based natural gas. This will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to the region's energy transition.
The WAGABOX technology, developed and patented by Waga Energy, captures the gas emitted from landfilled waste and purifies it into RNG. This process not only helps to reduce emissions but also provides a valuable source of renewable energy.
The inauguration of this new RNG production unit marks a significant milestone for both Veolia and Waga Energy. It demonstrates their commitment to sustainable energy solutions and their ability to leverage innovative technologies to address environmental challenges.
