Abu Dhabi, UAE – October 17, 2024:

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has successfully repelled an unprecedented wave of 200,000 cyberattacks in just one week, a senior official revealed. The surge in cyber threats coincided with heightened geopolitical tensions in the region, highlighting the growing sophistication of digital attacks.

Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, chairman of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, emphasized the country's resilience in the face of these attacks. "Despite the scale and intensity of the cyberattacks, none were able to breach our systems," he stated during a panel discussion at Gitex Global 2024.

The UAE, a major financial hub, has been a prime target for cybercriminals. However, the country's robust cybersecurity infrastructure and international collaborations have proven effective in thwarting these attacks. Al Kuwaiti attributed the UAE's success to a combination of advanced technology, strong partnerships, and a proactive approach to cybersecurity.

Acknowledging the evolving nature of cyber threats, Al Kuwaiti called for a global effort to combat these challenges. He advocated for the creation of a "Cyber Geneva Convention" to establish international norms and standards for cybersecurity.

The UAE's commitment to cybersecurity extends beyond its national borders. The country has been recognized as a global leader in cybersecurity and has been actively working with other nations to enhance their capabilities.

As technology continues to advance, the UAE is adapting its cybersecurity policies and regulations to address emerging threats. The country is investing in research and development to stay ahead of cybercriminals and protect its critical infrastructure.
