Lancashire, UK – October 2, 2024:
Motorola Solutions announced on Wednesday that Lancashire Police will deploy the M500 in-car video solution across its entire fleet of vehicles. The new video system provides officers with real-time awareness of their surroundings and captures video evidence for investigations.
Lancashire Police's Chief Superintendent Chris Hardy emphasized the importance of quick response times for police officers. The M500's live-streaming capabilities allow for real-time monitoring of unfolding events, providing valuable insights to the control room. The system's automation features, such as triggering video recording when blue lights are activated, help officers focus on their duties.
The deployment of the M500 is part of Lancashire Police's ongoing efforts to invest in new technologies and improve operations. The Roads Crime Team and Roads Policing Unit have been instrumental in locating vehicles, recovering stolen property, and assisting with road traffic collisions. The M500 will provide officers with an additional tool to enhance road safety within the community.
The M500's intuitive interface is designed for easy operation in demanding situations. Recorded footage is automatically uploaded to the Motorola Solutions VideoManager for secure storage and easy access. The system's chain-of-custody features ensure the integrity of video evidence, and the consolidated incident overview allows for efficient viewing of footage from various sources.
Fergus Mayne, U.K. and Ireland country manager at Motorola Solutions, highlighted the importance of video security solutions for police officers. The M500 seamlessly integrates with Lancashire Police's existing mission-critical technologies, providing enhanced productivity and agility.
Motorola Solutions has a long-standing relationship with Lancashire Police, supporting their digital transformation efforts. The M500 will complement the force's existing technology infrastructure, including the Pronto Digital Policing application, TETRA radios, and VB400 body cameras.
