Stuttgart, Germany - October 3, 2024:
In a thrilling display of automotive prowess, the Mercedes-AMG One has once again etched its name into the history books. The hypercar, already a sensation for its Formula 1-derived technology, has shattered its own Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record, setting a new benchmark for performance.
DTM driver Maro Engel piloted the 1,049-horsepower hybrid hypercar around the iconic German track in an astonishing 6 minutes, 29 seconds. This marks a significant improvement over his previous record-setting lap, which was achieved in 6 minutes, 35 seconds.
The Mercedes-AMG One's exceptional performance can be attributed to its unique powertrain and optimal track conditions. The hypercar combines four electric motors with a 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine, delivering a staggering amount of power and torque. Additionally, favorable weather conditions, with 59-degree air temps and 68-degree track temps, provided ideal grip and engine performance.
While this latest record-breaking achievement solidifies the Mercedes-AMG One's position as a technological marvel, the competition is heating up. Aston Martin Valkyrie and Red Bull RB17 are also gearing up for their own Nürburgring attempts, and an updated Porsche 911 GT2RS is expected to join the fray. This golden age of supercars and hypercars is set to deliver even more exhilarating performances in the months to come.
