Istanbul, Türkiye – October 22, 2024:

Türkiye and Niger have solidified their bilateral relationship with a new agreement focused on mining cooperation. The deal, signed in Istanbul on Tuesday, aims to bolster exploration and exploitation of mineral resources in the African nation.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar and Niger's Minister of Mines Abarchi Ousmane outlines a framework for collaboration in various aspects of the mining industry. Key areas of cooperation include information sharing, official-level meetings, capacity building, and joint projects.

Türkiye's active involvement in Niger's mining sector is expected to stimulate economic growth and development in the country. By encouraging both public and private sector investments, Türkiye aims to facilitate mineral exploration and exploitation in specific regions.

This latest agreement builds upon a previous declaration of intent on cooperation in the field of oil and natural gas, signed in July when Minister Bayraktar visited Niamey. The growing partnership between Türkiye and Niger highlights the increasing importance of Africa in Türkiye's foreign policy and economic strategy.
