Zurich, Switzerland - October 3, 2024:

Volkswagen's new electric car, the ID.7 Pro S, has defied expectations by achieving a remarkable 794 kilometers (493 miles) on a single charge during a real-world driving test in Switzerland. This feat significantly surpasses the model's official WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) range of up to 709 kilometers (441 miles).

Led by Felix Egolf, a renowned expert in long-distance electric driving, the Volkswagen Team Switzerland completed the impressive journey in 15 hours and 42 minutes. The test route, located in the Zug metropolitan area, mirrored everyday driving conditions, incorporating highways, main roads, and hilly country lanes. Eight drivers took turns navigating the roughly 81-kilometer (50-mile) circuit over two consecutive days, highlighting the car's practicality and endurance.

Even more impressive was the car's exceptional efficiency. Despite exceeding the WLTP range, the ID.7 Pro S achieved an average consumption of just 10.3 kWh/100 km, significantly lower than the model's most optimistic WLTP value of 13.6 kWh/100 km. This translates to a diesel equivalent of roughly 1.1 liters per 100 kilometers, demonstrating the car's remarkable energy-saving capabilities.

It's worth noting that the test vehicle wasn't even the most range-optimized version of the ID.7 Pro S. Equipped with several comfort and performance-enhancing features, the car's WLTP range was estimated at around 700 kilometers. This suggests that the base model with a focus on efficiency could potentially achieve an even greater range.

Felix Egolf, a "hypermiler" known for his extreme efficiency driving techniques, played a crucial role in achieving this record. His expertise in maximizing range with minimal energy consumption undoubtedly contributed to the impressive results.

The ID.7 Pro S emerges as a champion of efficiency in Volkswagen's electric lineup. Its low drag coefficient (as low as 0.23 depending on equipment) and a new, optimized electric drivetrain contribute to its impressive range and fuel economy. Additionally, the combined WLTP consumption of the ID.7 Pro S ranges from 13.6 to 16.2 kWh/100 km, depending on the configuration.

The car also boasts impressive fast-charging capabilities. In just 10 minutes, enough energy can be replenished to travel approximately 244 kilometers, making extended journeys more convenient. Additionally, a full charge from 10% to 80% takes only 26 minutes.

The ID.7 Pro S further enhances travel efficiency with its built-in Electric Vehicle Route Planner. This intelligent system calculates optimal routes based on the current battery charge and available charging stations. Not only does it identify the best charging points, but it also factors in real-time traffic data to ensure the fastest and most convenient journey.

The Volkswagen ID.7 Pro S has proven to be a powerful contender in the long-range electric vehicle market. Its exceptional real-world performance combined with its efficient design and intelligent features make it a compelling option for drivers seeking a practical and reliable electric car.
