SKF, a global leader in engineering, has unveiled a groundbreaking new series of bearings, SKF Infinium, designed for circular use. Leveraging advanced Laser Metal Deposition (LMD) technology, these bearings can be repeatedly reclad and reused, marking a significant leap towards a more sustainable future.
By employing LMD technology, SKF has developed bearings that surpass the performance and durability of standard bearings, tailoring them to specific applications. The multi-material design enables the bearings to be remanufactured endlessly, with damaged areas seamlessly repaired and replaced with fresh material. This innovative approach significantly reduces ownership costs, extends bearing lifespan, and minimizes waste.
The versatility of SKF Infinium bearings allows them to withstand the most demanding conditions. By applying different materials during the reclad process, such as stainless steel alloys, standard bearings can be transformed into corrosion-resistant ones, offering the performance of solid stainless steel bearings at a fraction of the cost.
