Dhaka — January 22, 2025:

The Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has revoked the licenses of seven Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) companies, citing license expiration as the reason for the decision.

In a circular, issued on Tuesday, the regulatory body named the affected companies as Telebarta Limited, Ranks Telecom Limited, National Telecom Limited, Bangla Phone Limited, Westek Limited, Onetel Communication Limited, and Integrated Service Limited.

The order is seen as a significant step in regulating the telecom sector in Bangladesh, with the decision expected to impact the operations of these companies. The BTRC has not yet indicated whether any steps will be taken to address service disruptions for customers reliant on these providers.

The cancellation reflects the regulatory authority’s commitment to maintaining compliance and updating standards within the rapidly evolving telecom industry.
