Sylhet, Bangladesh — January 30, 2025:
Grameenphone has proudly launched Bangladesh's first-ever Green Grameenphone Center in Ambarkhana, Sylhet, marking a significant step toward a more sustainable future. As the country's first mobile operator to introduce an eco-friendly service center, Grameenphone sets a new standard for environmental responsibility in the telecommunications industry.
In a press release, GP stated that the Green Grameenphone Center is designed to be an innovative, paperless, and plastic-free space, demonstrating the company's commitment to sustainability. Every aspect of the center, from its construction to daily operations, uses sustainable, recyclable, and recycled materials. The customer service experience is fully digital, further reducing the environmental impact while enhancing efficiency.
The center also embraces nature with vertical gardens and eco-friendly landscaping, creating a green and inviting atmosphere. A unique cultural touch is added through the use of "Shitol Pati" – traditional woven mats that represent Sylhet's heritage, emphasizing the balance between innovation and nature.
Farha Naz Zaman, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Grameenphone, attended the inauguration ceremony and spoke about the significance of the center. "Customer centricity is at the heart of everything we do, and when it meets sustainability, it creates meaningful impact," said Zaman. "This center not only exemplifies our commitment to a greener future but also honors local heritage while encouraging eco-friendly practices."
The Green Grameenphone Center serves as a model for integrating innovation, sustainability, and local culture, as Grameenphone continues to contribute to global sustainability goals and minimize its carbon footprint.
