On Tuesday, IBM and SAP SE announced the upcoming release of RISE with SAP on IBM Power Virtual Server, a new offering designed to streamline the path for IBM Power customers to accelerate their ERP transformation. This collaboration aims to help organizations seamlessly transition from on-premises ERP systems to the cloud, leveraging the power of SAP S/4HANA Cloud and AI-driven business processes.
RISE with SAP provides a guided approach for businesses to rethink their operating models, delivering cloud ERP services that drive outcome-based transformations. The new SAP hyperscaler offering on IBM Power Virtual Server promises to reduce risks and accelerate migration, allowing SAP S/4HANA Cloud to be up and running within 90 days for customers currently using IBM Power Systems on-premises.
Anurag Agrawal, Founder and Chief Global Analyst at TechAisle, noted, "RISE with SAP has emerged as a business priority for enterprises across all industries as they move to SAP S/4HANA Cloud. The new offering from IBM and SAP promises to be a compelling option for businesses looking to migrate their mission-critical ERP workloads securely, quickly and with minimal disruption."
The solution leverages IBM Power Virtual Server, known for its high security, scalability, and reliability. IBM has experienced these advantages firsthand in its own modernization journey using RISE with SAP.
IBM has extensive experience in SAP S/4HANA Cloud modernization, including a recent large-scale project where it moved key business processes like quote-to-cash and record-to-report for over 150,000 users across 175 countries. The transformation led to a 30% reduction in infrastructure costs and an increase in process automation.
SAP's Thomas Saueressig commented, "SAP is helping organizations run their best through cloud-based enterprise applications embedded with the power of SAP Business AI. This announcement is another milestone in SAP's long-term partnership with IBM, offering joint customers a clear path to the cloud for faster time-to-value and continuous innovation."
Additionally, customers can accelerate their transformation journey through IBM Consulting or other SAP partners. IBM is working with global systems integrators and services partners to provide comprehensive support for RISE with SAP migrations. The offering will also be complemented by the new IBM Transformation Suite for SAP Applications, which includes tools for environment assessment, data migration, and automated testing.
With over 10,000 SAP customers relying on IBM's systems for the past 50 years, this announcement further solidifies IBM's role as a full-lifecycle strategic partner for SAP.
