Madrid, Spain — January 20, 2025:

Indra Group's Board of Directors has appointed Angel Escribano as the new Executive Chairman following an extraordinary meeting on Sunday. During the same meeting, Marc Murtra officially resigned from his roles as Director, Executive Chairman, Chairman of the Executive Committee, and Chairman of the Strategy Committee of Indra Group. Murtra's resignation follows his recent appointment as Director and Executive Chairman of Telefonica, S.A.

The Board expressed sincere gratitude for Marc Murtra’s leadership and significant contributions to the transformation of Indra Group. His tenure was marked by a series of key strategic changes that positioned the company for future growth. The Board acknowledged his efforts in steering Indra through a pivotal phase and emphasized the lasting impact of his work in the company’s evolution.

In the same meeting, the Board approved Angel Escribano’s appointment as Director, following a favorable report from the Appointment and Corporate Governance Committee. To ensure a seamless transition, Escribano was appointed Executive Chairman, where he will assume the same executive functions previously held by Marc Murtra. His role will encompass both corporate and institutional duties, in collaboration with CEO José Vicente de los Mozos, who will oversee operational and business guidance. Furthermore, Escribano’s executive services contract was approved by the Board, maintaining the same remuneration terms as those established for Murtra, alongside the necessary powers for him to carry out his new role effectively.

These decisions ensure the continuity of the company’s Strategic Plan for 2024-2026 and are fully supported by Indra’s key shareholders.
Angel Escribano, who founded Mecanizados Escribano in 1989 alongside his father and brother Javier, is currently the chairman of EM&E Group. Under his leadership, the company transitioned from manufacturing mechanical parts to designing, developing, and producing advanced defense systems, including remote-control weapon stations, electro-optical systems, and guided ammunition kits. Escribano has played an integral role in this transformation, working across a variety of operational areas, from CNC machine operations to commercial management, operations planning, and quality management. He also serves on the Board of Directors of TESS DEFENCE and SMS, further underscoring his prominence in the defense industry.
