Dhaka, Bangladesh, 30 January 2025:

Singer Bangladesh Limited, a subsidiary of Beko and part of Turkiye’s Koç Holding, has officially opened its state-of-the-art Home Appliances Plant in the Bangladesh Special Economic Zone (BSEZ). The opening ceremony, held at the plant’s new location, was attended by key dignitaries, including the Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), Mr. Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, as the Chief Guest, and the Ambassador of Turkiye to Bangladesh, His Excellency Mr. Ramis Sen, as the Guest of Honour.

Notable figures at the event included Dr. Fatih Kemal Ebiçlioglu, President of the Consumer Durables Group at Koç Holding; Mr. Hakan Bulgurlu, CEO of Beko; and other senior executives from Beko, Koç Holding, and Singer Bangladesh.

Dr. Fatih Kemal Ebiclioglu highlighted the strategic importance of the new facility, underscoring how it will enhance both the manufacturing capabilities of Singer Bangladesh and its competitive position in the market. “At Koç Holding, we are dedicated to fostering sustainable growth that meets the evolving demands of diverse markets,” said EbiçlioÄŸlu. “South Asia is central to our global growth strategy. This facility stands as a testament to our commitment to positioning Bangladesh as a regional manufacturing powerhouse.”

Spanning 135,000 square meters, the plant will produce a wide range of home appliances, including refrigerators, televisions, washing machines, and air conditioners. With more than 90% of its products manufactured locally, the plant will not only serve the Bangladeshi market but will also foster a strong local supplier ecosystem, reducing dependence on imports and establishing Bangladesh as a key hub for consumer durables in South Asia. There are also plans to expand exports to neighboring countries.

The new facility integrates cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) to optimize production processes. Designed with sustainability at its core, the plant is built to LEED Gold standards and is solar-ready. The installation of solar panels is expected to reduce carbon emissions by up to 60%. Rainwater harvesting systems, along with energy monitoring systems, will further enhance the plant’s environmental footprint, ensuring it meets the highest sustainability standards.

Mr. Hakan Bulgurlu, CEO of Beko, emphasized that the plant represents a fusion of technological innovation and sustainability. “This facility is more than just a manufacturing hub; it is a symbol of our commitment to a sustainable future,” said Bulgurlu. “By combining Singer’s rich 120-year legacy with Beko’s global expertise, we’ve built a foundation for growth that drives both economic progress and environmental responsibility.”

The opening of the new plant is part of a broader transformation at Singer Bangladesh. In 2024, the company relocated its headquarters to a new, modern facility and opened flagship concept stores in Gulshan. This manufacturing plant marks another major milestone in Singer Bangladesh’s journey to strengthen its presence in the country and bring world-class standards to the Bangladeshi market.

M H M Fairoz, Managing Director and CEO of Singer Bangladesh, expressed the company’s vision for the future: “At Singer Bangladesh, customer-centricity drives everything we do. This transformation, from retail to manufacturing, is about enhancing the experience for our customers and elevating our brand. We are committed to using our global expertise to shape the future of the consumer durables industry in Bangladesh and improve the lives of our customers.”

Designed to minimize its environmental impact, the new plant optimizes natural daylight and incorporates sustainable energy solutions, such as solar readiness and skylight roof surfaces. The use of locally sourced and recycled materials during construction further reinforces the company’s commitment to sustainability.

With this significant investment, Singer Bangladesh is not only positioning itself as a leader in the local market but also as a key player in the regional consumer durables sector, driving innovation and contributing to both economic and environmental sustainability.
