Hubco Green, PSO Team Up to Launch EV Charging Stations Across Pakistan

Islamabad, Pakistan – February 15, 2025:

Hubco Green (Private) Limited (HGL), a subsidiary of Hub Power Holdings Limited (HPHL), has entered into a landmark collaboration with Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSO) to expand electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across Pakistan. The announcement was made via a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Friday.

The collaboration will see the installation of EV charging stations at multiple PSO locations nationwide. As part of the initiative, Hubco Green will engage in importing, manufacturing, and assembling EV charging accessories. PSO, the country’s largest fuel marketing company, is well-positioned to support the nationwide expansion of the charging infrastructure.

This development follows the inauguration of Hubco Green’s first EV charging station at Ocean Mall, Karachi, in January. The company is committed to building a comprehensive EV charging network, with stations planned along major highways, motorways, and in key cities and commercial areas, including upscale malls.

Hubco Green’s move aligns with the global rise in New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), including Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs), and Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs). While Pakistan’s NEV market is still emerging, the government’s draft National Electric Vehicle Policy (NEVP) targets a 30% share of electric vehicles in new car and truck sales by 2030, with a goal of 90% by 2040.

In support of this transition, the Pakistani government has recently granted licenses to 57 EV manufacturers, paving the way for increased local production of electric vehicles.

The partnership between Hubco Green and PSO is a significant step toward making sustainable transportation more accessible to Pakistani consumers, supporting the country’s clean energy transition and the global shift toward electric mobility.
