Jakarta, Indonesia — February 23, 2025:
Eleven students from the Master's Program in Medical Physics at the University of Indonesia (UI) have been awarded scholarships by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The scholarships, totaling around Rp440 million (approximately US$26,900), are aimed at supporting the development of radiation medicine in Indonesia under the IAEA’s national project INS6022, “Expansion of Radiation Medicine in Indonesia.”
Prof. Dede Djuhana, Dean of FMIPA, remarked at the UI campus on Saturday that the scholarship program aligns with Indonesia's health sector transformation efforts, especially in improving oncology services. One key element of this transformation is the establishment of oncology centers across the country to provide better cancer care.
Djuhana emphasized that the development of nuclear medicine requires skilled professionals, and through this program, the university aims to train medical physicists capable of contributing to optimal health services for the public.
The scholarship recipients include Asyifa Khoerunnisa, Fulki Fiarka Djoni, Parinza Ananda, Hany Yuliati, Jenni Natalia Corebima, Hendra Himawan, Rosa Desinta, Abdurrahman Aziz Wicaksono, Aulia Firma, Antonius Fajar Adinegoro, and Rohma Novitasari.
The training, which will take place from February to September 2025, will cover essential clinical practices in nuclear medicine, such as calibrating medical equipment, calculating radiation doses for patients, ensuring equipment quality, and implementing radiation safety measures. The training will be held at nuclear medicine centers across Indonesia.
