Seoul, South Korea — February 2, 2025:
Samsung’s long-rumored tri-fold phone now has a potential name: Galaxy G Fold. Leaker Yeux1122, who first hinted at the device months ago, claims it could launch in January 2026, though some sources suggest a late 2025 release.
According to Yeux1122’s blog post on Naver, the Galaxy G Fold will measure 9.96 inches wide and 6.54 inches high, featuring a double-folding design that bends inward from both sides to protect the screen. This setup would require a secondary display on the back. While slightly thicker than existing foldables, its weight will be similar to the Huawei Mate XT (298 grams or 10.51 ounces), making bulk a potential concern.
The “G” in the name may refer to the hinge mechanism, distinguishing it from other foldables. However, pricing remains a major hurdle. With the Huawei Mate XT launching at nearly $2,800 and the Galaxy S25 Ultra starting at $1,300, Samsung’s tri-fold could easily exceed $2,000, posing a challenge for mainstream adoption.
Samsung has yet to confirm details, but with development underway, more leaks and official updates are expected in the coming months.
