Barcelona, Spain — February 25, 2025:
At Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2025, SynaXG, in collaboration with Kyocera and NVIDIA, unveiled the world’s first data transmission and reception over mmWave radios powered by the NVIDIA GH200 Grace Hopper Superchip. This landmark achievement signals a major step towards AI-native wireless communications, poised to unlock new monetization opportunities and revolutionize wireless network performance globally.
The innovative AI-RAN solution, based on NVIDIA’s AI Aerial platform, integrates advanced radio technology (PHY) with network control units (CU and DU) for a complete 5G mmWave system. This system enables both AI-and-RAN and AI-for-RAN functionalities, running Layer 1 to Layer 3 operations on the NVIDIA GH200 Superchip, providing lightning-fast data transfers, ultra-reliable performance, and real-time intelligent operations.
The integration of AI-driven radio signal processing is set to significantly optimize wireless networks, improving cell throughput and reducing power consumption. Early laboratory trials have demonstrated the potential of the AI-RAN solution, with the setup supporting five carriers, each with 400 MHz of bandwidth, and achieving a peak throughput of up to 30 Gbps per NVIDIA GH200 Superchip.
“This technology lays the foundation for AI to thrive on ultra-fast mmWave networks,” said Mantosh Malhotra, Chief Business Officer at SynaXG. “Together with Kyocera and NVIDIA, we are helping redefine AI-native wireless communications and shaping the future of smarter, more efficient networks.”
Kyocera’s expertise in mmWave technology, paired with SynaXG and NVIDIA’s innovations, has brought to life a solution that delivers high performance, optimized costs, and sustainability for future wireless networks. “AI-RAN represents the next frontier for 5G and beyond,” stated Soma Velayutham, VP of Telecoms at NVIDIA.
This breakthrough solution is expected to transform industries by enabling high-bandwidth, ultra-reliable connectivity with edge AI processing. Industries such as smart manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, and entertainment will benefit from its application in dense environments, including stadiums where real-time video queries and analytics can enhance user experiences.
With trials slated for the end of 2025, attendees at MWC Barcelona can experience firsthand the world’s first AI-driven mmWave 5G vRAN solution at the SynaXG and Kyocera booths (Hall 5, Stands 5F21 and 5E12).
