Turkish guitar virtuoso Cem Koksal, famed for sharing the stage with rock legends like Joe Lynn Turner, is set to change the global guitar market with his innovative company, Shark Guitars. Together with partners Bayram Tekçe and Bahtiyar Balcı, Koksal has created a groundbreaking modular electric guitar, allowing musicians to swap necks, bodies, and pickups for a truly customizable experience, reads a DS report.
Founded in 2018 in Istanbul, the company now operates out of a dedicated factory in Antalya's Organized Industrial Zone. After six years of research and development, including the securing of multiple patents, Shark Guitars is now producing 100 guitars per month, with a focus on scaling production for international markets.
Koksal shared his vision for the guitars, saying, "Our design offers a new level of playability and versatility, allowing musicians to mix and match parts and create four distinct setups with just two guitars." Shark Guitars also integrates a unique tremolo bridge and nut system, enabling quick assembly and disassembly. Additionally, the guitars are equipped with a built-in effects system, eliminating the need for external pedals.
The company plans to produce 1,200 to 1,500 guitars annually, with distribution agreements already in progress for markets in the U.S., Japan, Italy, and Germany. Despite operating in a competitive space dominated by established production hubs, Koksal believes that the innovation and modular design of Shark Guitars offer a distinctive competitive edge.
"We are proud to manufacture high-tech instruments that will have a lasting impact on the guitar world," Koksal explained. "Our goal is to establish Shark Guitars as a leading global brand, offering musicians the next generation of electric guitars."
Beyond just business, Koksal is passionate about encouraging innovation in Turkey’s industrial sector. He hopes to inspire young people to explore high-tech manufacturing and creative industries, contributing to the advancement of domestic production in Turkey’s growing economy.
