Ankara, Turkiye — February 19, 2025:

Türkiye’s first domestically developed communications satellite, Türksat 6A, has successfully completed its first broadcast test, marking a significant milestone in the country’s space capabilities. The test, which took place in space, was conducted with the TRT World channel.

The satellite was launched aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, USA. Türksat 6A, the latest member of Türkiye’s Türksat satellite family, was designed and built by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), defense company Aselsan, and the Scientific and Technological Research Council.

Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır celebrated the achievement, saying on X, "The first test broadcast of our first national communication satellite Türksat 6A, one of the biggest projects of the National Technology Movement, has been successfully completed."

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu also praised the success, noting that the achievement further solidifies Türkiye's position as a country capable of manufacturing and operating its own satellites. He added, "We continue to work for an independent, strong, and high-tech Türkiye!"

The success of Türksat 6A is a significant step in Türkiye’s goal of achieving greater technological independence and enhancing its capabilities in space and satellite communication.
