Benton Harbor, Michigan, USA — February 18, 2025:
Whirlpool Corporation has announced the appointment of John Morikis, former chairman and CEO of The Sherwin-Williams Company, to its board of directors, effective immediately. Morikis will join both the corporate governance and nominating committee, as well as the human resources committee.
Marc Bitzer, chairman and CEO of Whirlpool, expressed excitement over Morikis’ appointment, highlighting his vast experience in leading global enterprises. "John’s expertise in building resilient supply chains and his deep understanding of the U.S. home builder market will be invaluable as we continue navigating the global marketplace," said Bitzer.
Morikis, 61, led Sherwin-Williams as president and CEO from 2016 and chairman from 2017. He joined the company in 1984 and held various leadership roles, including president and general manager of the paint stores division and chief operating officer.
Morikis will continue serving on the board of directors for Sherwin-Williams until his term concludes in April and is also a director at General Mills, Inc. and University Hospitals.
