Sydney, Australia — March 19, 2025:
Power utilities across Asia Pacific are embracing AI and digital transformation to address surging energy demand and the complexities of integrating renewable energy sources. A new report from Information Services Group (ISG) highlights how companies are investing in advanced grid technologies to enhance efficiency, stability, and security.
Asia Pacific, which accounts for over half of the world’s electricity consumption, is experiencing a surge in demand due to industrial growth, data centers, cryptocurrency mining, and the rise of electric vehicles. With over $3 trillion expected to be invested in power generation over the next decade, utilities are turning to AI-driven solutions to optimize grid performance and balance fluctuating supply from renewable sources.
AI is playing a pivotal role in forecasting wind and solar energy output, optimizing power distribution, and enhancing energy efficiency through smart building systems. Meanwhile, cybersecurity has become a growing concern as digital infrastructure expands. Governments in the region are reinforcing security protocols, with Australia introducing new regulations for critical infrastructure and India proposing mandatory cybersecurity audits to safeguard its power networks.
ISG’s latest research evaluates 29 service providers leading the industry in grid modernization, enterprise asset management, and customer experience. Companies such as Accenture, IBM Consulting, Infosys, TCS, and Wipro have been recognized as top providers, while leading software solutions from GE Vernova, Schneider Electric, Siemens, SAP, IBM, and Hitachi Energy are driving transformation.
As energy consumption continues to rise, Asia Pacific’s utilities are at the forefront of a technological shift, leveraging AI and digital solutions to ensure a secure, efficient, and resilient power infrastructure.
