In a proud moment for Bangladesh, two architecture students from Bangladesh University have achieved significant international recognition at the XXVIII Encuentro Plástico Espacial 2025 competition, held by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). The competition, hosted by UNAM’s prestigious Luis Barragan Workshop, is a global platform designed to foster creativity in architectural design, inviting first-year architecture students from around the world.
Emma Eshrat secured third place, while her classmate SM Ahadul Islam was awarded the second commendation award. Their extraordinary accomplishments have not only made Bangladesh University proud but have also spotlighted the country's rising talent in the global architectural community.
The competition, which was inaugurated on February 13, 2025, saw students from numerous countries submitting innovative designs that blend spatial and plastic concepts. Eshrat and Islam’s achievements in this highly competitive event demonstrate the growing influence of Bangladeshi students on the international stage.
Both students credited their success to the unwavering support of their department’s faculty, acknowledging that their teachers' guidance played a crucial role in helping them reach such a prestigious milestone. "Our teachers’ planning and encouragement were fundamental to this achievement," Eshrat said. "This success is a collective effort, and we are honored to represent our university and our country."
In recognition of their outstanding performance, Bangladesh University’s leadership expressed their pride and congratulated the students. Kazi Jamil Azhar, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Vice-Chairman Architect Iqbal Habib, and Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Alam all sent their warm congratulations, emphasizing their hopes for continued creativity and success from the students in future endeavors.
