Cal Poly Pomona’s Singelyn Graduate School of Business (CPP SGSB) and the College of Pharmacy at Western University of Health Sciences (WesternU) have partnered to launch an innovative PharmD-MBA pathway. This program provides pharmacy graduates with a streamlined path to earning an MBA, equipping them with essential business skills to complement their clinical expertise.
Designed to meet the evolving demands of healthcare, the program integrates patient care knowledge with leadership and management training. The initiative highlights the institutions’ commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and career development.
“We are excited to collaborate with Western University of Health Sciences to launch this pioneering program,” said Dr. Sandeep Krishnamurthy, Singelyn Family Dean at Cal Poly Pomona. “By bridging pharmacy and business, we aim to develop healthcare professionals who can excel in leadership roles.”
Dr. Sunil Prabhu, Dean of the College of Pharmacy at WesternU, emphasized the program’s importance: “Healthcare is evolving rapidly. Our graduates need to manage budgets, lead teams, and drive technological advancements. This dual-assurance program gives them a strong competitive edge.”
WesternU PharmD graduates benefit from a simplified admissions process and the ability to transfer up to nine units of coursework toward their MBA, reducing time to completion. With tuition set at approximately $19,500 plus fees, the program is an affordable and valuable investment for those pursuing careers in healthcare management, pharmaceuticals, and entrepreneurship. Participants also gain access to CPP’s Career Center resources, including professional development workshops, networking opportunities, and job placement support.
