HONG KONG, China — March 10, 2025:

China Telecom, in collaboration with Hangzhou Antwork Network Technology and Zhejiang University, has been awarded the prestigious Global Mobile Award (GLOMO) for "Best Mobile Innovation for Connected Health and Wellbeing" at the 2025 Mobile World Congress (MWC25). The recognition highlights the company’s groundbreaking 5G UAV medical delivery network, which is reshaping healthcare logistics through advanced aerial and sensing technology.

Designed to improve emergency response and bridge healthcare gaps, the system integrates 5G-A terrestrial and aerial technology with high-precision medical sensing networks. It employs dynamic resource scheduling, smart beamforming in urban areas, and wide-angle power-sharing antennas for expansive suburban coverage. The UAVs, equipped with wind-resistant technology and real-time monitoring, provide a secure and responsive low-altitude medical corridor, ensuring rapid and safe transport of critical medical supplies.

Currently piloted in Zhejiang Province, the solution has significantly reduced delivery times for emergency blood transport compared to traditional logistics. By creating an aerial "highway" between central hospitals and rural clinics, the system enhances healthcare accessibility and facilitates a more balanced allocation of medical resources. Flight data confirms that a single UAV delivery can meet the emergency blood needs of up to two patients, proving its tangible impact.

The success of China Telecom’s 5G UAV initiative underscores the potential of low-altitude networks in healthcare. The company plans to expand its 5G-A applications through continued industry collaboration, fostering advancements in medical logistics and digital transformation.

The GLOMO Awards, established by GSMA in 1996, are widely regarded as the highest honor in the mobile communications industry, recognizing groundbreaking innovation and technological excellence worldwide.
