San Francisco, USA — March 18, 2025:
Cloudflare, a leading connectivity cloud company, has unveiled the first cloud-native quantum-safe Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solution, marking a significant advancement in securing enterprise communications. With the integration of post-quantum cryptography, businesses can now protect their web traffic and web applications from the potential risks posed by quantum computers.
This innovation ensures end-to-end quantum-safe connectivity, enabling enterprises to route communications securely from web browsers to applications without needing to update individual systems. By mid-2025, Cloudflare plans to expand this support to cover all IP protocols, ensuring broader compatibility across enterprise devices and applications.
As quantum computing progresses, traditional encryption methods face growing vulnerabilities. In response, Cloudflare has led efforts to implement post-quantum cryptography, a crucial step in protecting online data—from personal information to sensitive business data—from future cyber threats.
Matthew Prince, Cloudflare’s CEO, highlighted the company’s commitment to making quantum security a new standard for internet protection, offering this solution for free to its customers. Since 2017, Cloudflare has been at the forefront of post-quantum cryptography research, with over 35% of human-generated traffic benefiting from quantum protection today.
The new quantum-safe ZTNA solution also protects against "capture now, decrypt later" attacks, where cybercriminals store encrypted data for decryption when quantum computers become available. Cloudflare’s platform ensures businesses can safeguard their web traffic and enterprise web applications from these future threats.
By mid-2025, Cloudflare will expand the solution to cover all protocols connected across its network configurations, providing organizations with a seamless way to protect traffic flowing to offices, cloud environments, and data centers. WARP device clients will enable full, end-to-end quantum protection for all connected devices.
Cloudflare’s quantum-safe solutions are already available through Secure Web Gateway and clientless access configurations, with further network configuration support expected by mid-2025.
