Calgary, Canada — March 14, 2025:
CoolIT Systems, the world leader in liquid cooling for AI and high-performance computing, has announced the launch of its state-of-the-art 4000W-ready coldplate, revolutionizing single-phase direct liquid cooling (DLC) technology. This new coldplate significantly exceeds the previously accepted limits, establishing CoolIT as a continued frontrunner in the industry.
"We are proud to introduce this breakthrough in cooling technology," said Kamal Mostafavi, Vice President of Engineering at CoolIT Systems. "The 4000W coldplate proves that single-phase DLC will remain a key enabler for high-performance processors, offering unparalleled capability and efficiency for the foreseeable future."
Single-phase direct liquid cooling is a proven method that uses water or a water-glycol mixture to remove heat from semiconductors, providing an efficient solution for cooling high-watt processors. This technology has become the de facto standard in the industry, especially for AI processors with a Thermal Design Power (TDP) exceeding 1000W.
In CoolIT’s tests, the 4000W coldplate demonstrated outstanding performance, capturing more than 97% of heat from a 4000W thermal test vehicle (TTV) at a flow rate of 6 liters per minute (LPM), equivalent to the industry’s recommended 1.5 LPM per kilowatt for high-wattage chips. Lower flow rate tests also produced excellent results, showcasing the coldplate’s efficiency and adaptability.
CoolIT’s innovative coldplate also features an ultra-low thermal resistance of Tr<0.009 C/W and limits the full flow loop pressure drop, including all fittings and quick disconnects (QDs), to a mere 8 PSI. These exceptional attributes ensure superior thermal management while maintaining optimal system performance in demanding environments.
Utilizing CoolIT's patented Split-Flow™ technology, the 4000W coldplate delivers 30% better thermal and flow performance compared to traditional coldplates. It also provides targeted cooling for hot spots, optimizing cooling for processors under heavy workloads. These capabilities make the coldplate ideal for next-generation high-performance computing and AI applications, which demand robust and scalable cooling solutions.
With over 24 years of experience in semiconductor liquid cooling, CoolIT Systems has pioneered innovative technologies that currently cool more than 5 million GPUs and CPUs worldwide. The company works closely with global microprocessor and server leaders to design the most efficient and reliable cooling solutions for their most advanced products.
Through its modular direct liquid cooling (DLC) solutions, CoolIT is enabling significant advancements in rack density, component performance, and energy efficiency. With the introduction of this 4000W coldplate, CoolIT has once again demonstrated its leadership in thermal management, positioning itself to support the next wave of ultra-high-watt semiconductors in AI, data centers, and beyond.
