Ecopetrol on Friday announced the launch of its Market Maker program for common stock on the Colombian Stock Exchange. The initiative, which officially began on March 3, 2025, with Andes Investment Group Inc., is designed to enhance liquidity, price formation, and trading conditions for the company’s shares. On March 14, Valores Bancolombia S.A. Comisionista de Bolsa also joined the program following approval from the Colombian Stock Exchange.
This program aims to improve the depth of the local market, strengthen Colombia’s capital market, and create more value for Ecopetrol’s shareholders. The company emphasized that this initiative would help stabilize trading and encourage more investor participation.
Ecopetrol, the largest company in Colombia and a key player in the region’s energy sector, produces over 60% of the country’s hydrocarbons and holds significant positions in sectors like petrochemicals and gas distribution. In addition to its domestic operations, the company has expanded its footprint internationally, with activities in energy transmission, real-time systems management, and road concessions in various countries across Latin America.
The company’s announcement included a reference to Release No. 048 from the Colombian Stock Exchange, providing technical details about the program (available in Spanish).
As Ecopetrol continues to diversify its operations and expand across the Americas, the Market Maker program represents a strategic effort to enhance its presence in the Colombian capital market.
