Barcelona, Spain — March 8, 2025:
During MWC 2025 in Barcelona, Huawei’s Chairman of Carrier Business, James Chen, delivered a keynote titled “Innovating with AI: Taking TechCOs’ Value Creation to New Heights,” outlining how AI and emerging technologies like 5.5G, cloud, and AI are shaping the transformation of traditional carriers into digital service providers or "techcos."
Chen emphasized that transformation is not an end in itself, but a means of creating continuous value. He introduced Huawei's “Five Ones” model, which provides a comprehensive roadmap for carriers to evolve, reshaping their business operations, maintenance, and infrastructure. This framework enables carriers to embrace new opportunities and sustain long-term growth in the digital era.
A key element of this transformation is the monetization of differentiated user experiences. As personalized service scenarios such as live streaming and gaming become more prevalent, AI-powered solutions are enabling carriers to dynamically adapt networks to users' needs, improve the user experience in real time, and create new service models. Over 35 carriers worldwide have integrated AI-driven experience monetization models.
The keynote also focused on advancements in AI for smart homes, where carriers are evolving from simple bandwidth providers to AI service providers. For instance, Chinese and South Korean airlines have introduced AI hubs that seamlessly connect to various smart devices, using multi-modal interaction to enable cloud-based applications based on user intent.
To cater to the growing B2B service demand, Huawei advocates for a one-stop cloud platform that delivers multi-service convergence. Carriers can tap into this platform to accelerate digital transformation across industries. One such example is a North African carrier leveraging multi-cloud platforms to assist thousands of businesses with their digital evolution.
AI technologies also play a vital role in operational efficiency. By utilizing digital twins and AI agents for network and service management, carriers can optimize operations, reducing failure resolution times to under 30 minutes.
Finally, Chen underscored the importance of a synergistic architecture to integrate resources such as network, storage, cloud, and computing power. The goal is to deliver intelligent connectivity, cloud, and collaboration, enabling seamless operation across all functions.
Chen concluded by reaffirming Huawei’s commitment to driving the transformation of carriers into techcos, using AI and advanced technologies to create sustainable value in an increasingly digital world.
