Barcelona, Spain — March 8, 2025:
At MWC 2025 in Barcelona, Huawei and Turkcell, Turkey's leading technology company, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop sustainable, industry-leading network innovations. This collaboration aims to harness advanced technologies, including 5G-A, to enhance Turkcell’s network infrastructure and drive the creation of smart cities.
The partnership will focus on developing next-generation features of 5G-A technology in wireless networks, ultra-fast broadband solutions, and quantum-safe encryption in IP networks. The companies will test several innovations such as Tunnel Antenna Technology to reduce cable usage, Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) Technology to improve high-precision localization and activity recognition, and Supersite Technology using satellites for redundant communication systems.
Additionally, field tests will be conducted for Symmetric 50GPON technology, offering ultra-fast broadband connectivity, and Quantum Key Distribution technology, providing secure, quantum-encrypted services for future-proof communications.
Prof. Dr. V. Çağrı Güngör, Chief Technology Officer at Turkcell, emphasized the company’s commitment to next-generation network innovation. "By focusing on 5G-A, we are developing smarter, more efficient networks that will meet the needs of future connectivity. Through continuous innovation, we aim to build networks that are intelligent, sustainable, and improve the digital experience," he said.
