WASHINGTON, D.C., USA — March 2, 2025:

Elon Musk has publicly endorsed US Vice President J.D. Vance as a potential future president, amplifying speculation about Vance’s political future. The tech billionaire and Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) chief made the remarks on Friday following an Oval Office exchange between Vance and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer over free speech policies, reads an RT post.
As Starmer met with President Donald Trump and administration officials at the White House, Vance strongly defended his position on digital censorship, reiterating his warnings from last month’s Munich Security Conference.
“We also know there have been infringements on free speech that affect not just the British,” Vance said. “Of course, what the British do in their own country is up to them, but it also impacts American technology companies and, by extension, American citizens.”
Starmer rejected the concerns, asserting that free speech remained firmly protected in the UK. “We’ve had free speech for a very, very long time in the United Kingdom, and it will last for a very, very long time,” he responded.
Shortly after, Musk took to his social media platform X, praising Vance as “the best VP ever and our future President.” The endorsement, his second in recent weeks, follows an earlier post where he expressed hope that Vance would one day lead the country.
Musk’s backing comes amid growing tensions between the White House and Ukraine. Hours before his endorsement, Vance and Trump confronted Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in a separate Oval Office meeting. Vance, the first to speak, accused Zelensky of hosting “propaganda tours” that exaggerated the devastation of the war, calling the Ukrainian leader’s actions “disrespectful.”
The tense exchange led to an early end to the meeting, with Trump reportedly telling Zelensky to return when he was “ready to pursue peace.” Musk later weighed in, declaring on X that Zelensky had “destroyed himself in the eyes of the American people.”
Musk, who was appointed DOGE chief by Trump in January, has been tasked with streamlining government operations and reducing federal spending. His growing political alignment with Vance highlights their shared stance on free speech and foreign policy.
At 40, Vance is the third-youngest vice president in US history. Once a vocal critic of Trump, he opposed his candidacy in 2016 but later secured Trump’s endorsement in his successful 2022 Ohio Senate race. That support propelled him into Trump’s inner circle, where he has since played a key role in shaping administration policies.
