LAS VEGAS, US — March 22, 2025:
Elon Musk has alleged that a coordinated conspiracy aims to assassinate him and attack Tesla, claiming his US government cost-cutting efforts have made him a target. He accuses left-wing activists of vandalizing Tesla cars and dealerships, including recent arson and Molotov cocktail attacks.
As an adviser to President Donald Trump, Musk has overseen drastic federal budget cuts through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), slashing spending and reducing government staff. Supporters praise his efforts to curb corruption, while critics accuse him of pushing extreme austerity.
The backlash has intensified in recent weeks, with anti-Musk protests and Tesla-related violence spreading across the US. A Tesla Collision Center in Las Vegas was firebombed, leaving at least five vehicles damaged.
Speaking to Fox News on Monday, Musk condemned the attacks, calling them “deranged” and suggesting a coordinated effort is behind them.
“They basically want to kill me because I’m stopping their fraud, and they want to hurt Tesla because we’re stopping the terrible waste and corruption in the government,” Musk told the outlet. He questioned who is funding and coordinating the violence, calling the situation “insane.”
Despite the threats, Musk insists the opposition proves his policies are working, arguing that the intensity of attacks shows entrenched interests are being disrupted.
Anti-Musk demonstrations have escalated, with activists condemning Tesla’s ties to the Trump administration. Some have taken extreme measures, including targeting Tesla customers. A recent online campaign linked to the “DogeQuest” group has reportedly created an interactive doxing map, exposing the addresses of Tesla owners and encouraging activists to deface their vehicles.
US Attorney General Pam Bondi has condemned the growing violence, labeling the attacks on Tesla “domestic terrorism.” She vowed to prosecute those responsible and warned that federal charges could follow if the violence continues.
