San Francisco, USA — March 25, 2025:

OpenAI has released a significant update to its Advanced Voice Mode for ChatGPT, improving real-time interactions and making the AI assistant more personable. The update, announced on Monday by OpenAI post-training researcher Manuka Stratta, focuses on reducing frequent interruptions that typically occur when users pause to think or take a breath during conversations.

The update is aimed at both free and paying users of ChatGPT. Free users now have the ability to pause their speech without being interrupted, allowing for a smoother, more natural conversation. For paying users — including those with subscriptions to OpenAI's Plus, Teams, Edu, Business, and Pro tiers — the improvements include fewer interruptions and an enhanced personality for the voice assistant.

An OpenAI spokesperson stated that the updated AI voice assistant offers “more direct, engaging, concise, specific, and creative” responses, making interactions feel more fluid and engaging. These improvements mark a step forward in creating a more human-like and less intrusive voice assistant experience for users.
