Sujan Biswas (Chuadanga, Bangladesh) — March 26, 2025:

A human chain was formed in Jibannagar to protest what participants described as a false and politically motivated case against student leader (Chuadanga District Chhatra Dal Vice President) Tariqul Islam. The demonstration, organized by Jibannagar Upazila, Municipal, and College Chhatra Dal, took place at Jibannagar Bus Stand on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at noon.

Speaking at the protest, Jibannagar Upazila Chhatra Dal Member Secretary Mokchedur Rahman Rimon condemned the case filed against Tariqul Islam in connection with the death of Biplob Hossain Waz of Simanta Union on March 17. "It is still unclear whether Biplob's death was due to a road accident or murder. We demand the withdrawal of this harassment case against the District Chhatra Dal Vice President," Rimon stated.

He further called for an impartial investigation into the incident. "If anyone is found guilty, we demand the highest punishment. However, no innocent person should be subjected to harassment."

Among those present at the protest were Banka Union Chhatra Dal President Toufiq Islam, Jibannagar Municipality Ward No. 5 Chhatra Dal Organizing Secretary and Jibannagar Degree College Chhatra Dal President candidate Imran Hossain Farhad, and Jibannagar Municipality Chhatra Dal leader Almas Anan.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jibannagar Police Station Mamun Hossain Biswas confirmed that a case had been filed against Tariqul Islam, Sultan, and Bablu regarding Biplob Hossain's death. "The investigation is ongoing, but no arrests have been made so far. The exact cause of death will be determined after the autopsy report," he said.

On the morning of March 17, police responded to a 999 call and found Biplob Hossain Waz, son of Chand Mia alias Buro of Gayeshpur village, lying by the roadside in a bloodied state at Gayeshpur Bilkasari. He was taken to Jibannagar for initial treatment before being transferred to Jessore and later Dhaka for advanced care. Despite receiving treatment at Dhaka One Hospital, he passed away on March 19. His family claims he was murdered.
