Dhaka, Bangladesh — March 24, 2025:
This Ramadan, realme, the consumer technology brand beloved by youth, teamed up with students from two prestigious universities to share iftar with over a thousand blue-collar and self-employed workers in Dhaka. The initiative, focused on celebrating Ramadan and fostering a sense of community, was made possible by 50 volunteers, with 25 students from Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology and 25 from Daffodil International University.
The iftar meals were shared with a diverse group of individuals, including security guards, cleaners, drivers, laborers, and other self-employed workers, many of whom face challenges in affording a proper meal to break their fast. Each recipient received a nutritious and hearty meal, featuring a variety of delicious dishes and refreshing sharbat, providing them with a meaningful and fulfilling experience during the holy month.
Darren Zhang, Branding Director at realme, said, “Ramadan offers a special opportunity to bring joy and happiness to those around us. We wanted to make this time truly special for the hardworking individuals who often go unnoticed.”
Rahima Begum, a self-employed woman from Uttara, shared her gratitude: “Today, I received a full meal, including sharbat, for iftar. It’s a rare treat for me. Thank you to the organisers for this kind gesture.”
Mofiz Alam, a blue-collar worker, added, “I’ll take this food home to my children. They’ll love it. May God bless those who arranged this iftar.”
Realme’s iftar celebration highlights the importance of supporting blue-collar workers and self-employed individuals in our communities. As Ramadan continues, the brand hopes to inspire others to take similar actions, spreading the spirit of kindness, generosity, and unity.
