Saudi Arabia awards Teledyne FLIR Defense a $7.8M contract for mobile surveillance systems, enhancing national defense with advanced radar and thermal imaging technology.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia – March 25, 2025:
Teledyne FLIR Defense, a division of Teledyne Technologies, has been awarded a significant $7.8 million contract by Saudi Arabia through its partnership with Middle East Task Company (METCO). The contract will see the delivery of Teledyne FLIR’s next-generation Lightweight Vehicle Surveillance Systems (LVSS), aimed at boosting the country’s defense capabilities by providing cutting-edge mobile surveillance technology.
The LVSS system integrates FLIR’s advanced TacFLIR® 380HD long-range thermal imaging camera and Ranger® R20SS radar, capable of tracking up to 500 targets at distances greater than 10 miles (16 km). This system is crucial for enhancing national security by enabling real-time detection and tracking of threats, both from air and ground sources. The mobile system can be deployed rapidly by a single operator in under 30 seconds, offering a quick-response solution for safeguarding critical infrastructure and military installations.
Stan Crawford, Senior Director of Business Development at Teledyne FLIR Defense for the Middle East, expressed the company’s pride in supporting Saudi Arabia’s security efforts. “We are honored to work with METCO in delivering a solution that strengthens Saudi Arabia’s ability to protect its borders, installations, and personnel, ensuring safety at all times,” Crawford said.
This project, which includes mission support equipment and training, is set for delivery by the end of 2025. METCO, in collaboration with Teledyne FLIR Defense and the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), has also outlined a localization plan to support Saudi Arabia’s long-term defense infrastructure.
